     What Is Long-Term Care?

    Long-term care at Haro Park Centre (also known as Residential Care or Complex Care) provides 24‑hour professional nursing and personal support for adults with significant health or mental conditions who can no longer live safely at home It’s the highest-intensity care level offered on site—integrated into Haro Park’s multi-care Campus of Care

    Accommodations

    • 154 single-occupancy rooms, furnished (bed, night table, lamp, small chair); some include private bathrooms, others share toilets
    • Central spa-style bathing facilities with shower rooms.

     

    Care & Services

    • 24/7 registered nurse (RN, RPN, LPN) supervision, along with care aides providing personal support—bathing, dressing, hygiene, etc.
    • On-site professional services: physician, dentist, foot care, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, optometrist/ophthalmologist, audiologist, pharmacist
    • Meal oversight: diets monitored by clinical dietitians, with meals and snacks provided
    • Laundry & housekeeping included .
    • Equipment provision: mobility aids (wheelchair, walker, cane) are provided initially (first 3 months); further rental or purchase is arrangeable through referrals
    • Therapeutic programming covers social, physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual activities

     Who It’s For

    This level is tailored to residents who:

    • Have complex medical or mental health needs.
    • Can’t live safely at home due to care or supervision requirements.
    • Are supported by Vancouver Coastal Health funding under the Community Care & Assisted Living Act

    • Referral required via Vancouver Coastal Health’s Home & Community Care access line at (604) 263‑7377
    • Eligibility considers citizenship/residency, age, health status, and care needs level

     Tips & Considerations

    • For comparison: Almost three-quarters of LTC residents at Haro Park live with dementia; staff-to-resident ratios are vital—ask about them and observe during visits
